The little hand tucked into yours on the way to see Santa. The excitement of spotting Christmas lights. The sound of your children laughing at their very first pantomime.

These are the moments that make Christmas so special.

Between school concerts, shopping lists and all the preparations, December can fly by. A little family getaway is a wonderful excuse to pause, spend some quality time together and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year through your children’s eyes.

At Cork International Hotel, we would love to help you make those memories. With our great value Family Date Night offer and so many festive experiences to discover across Cork, even one night away can become a lovely new Christmas tradition.

A Family Date Night with a Little Christmas Sparkle

Imagine a day filled with festive adventures, followed by dinner together, a family movie and a comfortable bedroom waiting upstairs.

Our Family Date Night brings together an overnight stay, dinner in The New Yorker Restaurant, breakfast the following morning and a family movie experience in our cinema room. With the offer from €290, it is a lovely way to turn a Christmas outing into a proper little break.

There is time to hear everyone’s favourite part of the day over dinner. Time to settle in for a film together in our private cinema. And time the next morning to enjoy breakfast without rushing straight back into the usual routine.

Our spacious family accommodation, Aviator Playroom and Family Concierge help make everyone feel welcome, from our smallest guests to the grown ups who deserve a little Christmas treat too.

Discover a Hidden Christmas World at Nollaig

For little ones who love a story, the Nollaig Santa Experience at Elizabeth Fort invites families into a world of Christmas preparations.

During the 75 minute experience, families follow a festive journey, meet the residents of Nollaig and lend a hand as Christmas Eve approaches. A visit with Father Christmas and a gift for each child bring the adventure to a special finish.

It is a lovely opportunity to leave the everyday bustle behind and join in the make believe together. Afterwards, there will be plenty to chat about back at the hotel.

Meet the Elves at Cork’s North Pole Outpost

If your family loves laughter, characters and getting involved, take a look at the Cork North Pole Experience.

Set in the woods of Cuskinny Court in Cobh, this theatrical adventure introduces families to Santa’s busy outpost. Expect playful elves, activities in Mrs Claus’s kitchen and a chance to learn a few essential elf skills along the way.

Pull on your winter coats, bring your sense of fun and enjoy watching the children become part of the story. You might find the adults having just as much fun.

Enjoy a Traditional Christmas at Fota House

There is something especially lovely about a grand old house dressed for Christmas.

The Magic of Santa at Fota House runs from 21 November to 22 December 2026, inviting families to explore decorated rooms and help Santa, Mrs Claus and the elves prepare for Christmas Eve.

The visit includes time with Santa in his North Pole library, where children receive two books chosen for their age.

Those books could become part of your own Christmas traditions, brought out each December with memories of the year you visited Santa at Fota.

Lend Santa a Helping Hand at The Pavilion

At The Pavilion in Ballygarvan, Santa’s elves have been busy making toys, but there are still a few jobs to finish before Christmas Eve.

Families are invited to help with the preparations before enjoying a special chat with Santa and a Christmas gift for each child. There is also the option to add a professional photograph as a keepsake.

For parents and grandparents, those photographs become more precious with every passing year. The excited smiles, the Christmas jumpers and the little faces that change so quickly are all worth capturing.

Soak Up Christmas in Cork City

Sometimes, the loveliest part of a Christmas outing is simply being together.

Wrap up warmly, wander through the city and let the children set the pace for a little while. Stop to admire a shop window, choose somewhere for a hot chocolate and enjoy the excitement of Cork at Christmas.

A Cork Christmas Celebration features a programme including the Christmas Parade on 15 November, the Ferris Wheel, festive markets and the Family Festive Hub at Counting House Plaza. Check the programme for the dates and activities taking place during your stay.

You do not need to fit everything into one visit. One lovely outing, with time to enjoy it, can be more than enough.

Make It a Family Panto Tradition

The shouting, the singing, the jokes and the delighted laughter. A Christmas pantomime is one of those outings that brings the whole family together.

At Cork Opera House, Beauty and the Beast brings Belle, Nanny Nellie and a colourful cast of characters to the stage, with live music, dancing and plenty of comedy.

Meanwhile, The Everyman’s Jack and the Beanstalk runs from 3 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, promising magic beans, giant adventures and festive fun.

Whether it is your child’s first panto or an outing you look forward to every year, pairing a performance with an overnight stay makes the occasion feel even more special.

Come Back to a Warm Welcome

After meeting Santa, exploring Cork or cheering on a panto hero, there is something lovely about having the rest of the evening together.

Back at Cork International Hotel, enjoy dinner, share stories from your day and settle into your Family Date Night. Let the children debate their favourite elf while you enjoy having someone else look after dinner.

Then comes the simple pleasure of a night away and breakfast together the next morning.

It might only be one night, but to a child, it can feel like a very big adventure.

Give Yourselves the Gift of Time Together

This Christmas, make room in the diary for a little family magic.

A visit to Santa. A laugh at the panto. A movie together. A breakfast where nobody needs to rush.

We would love to welcome you to Cork International Hotel and help you make memories you will be talking about long after the decorations come down.

Book your Family Date Night and start planning your festive family break in Cork.
